Here are some FAQs and other tips and advice to help make your forum experience a good one.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Internet Forum? An Internet Forum is a website where people can exchange ideas and have discussions about a variety of topics. Individual entries are called posts, and a new post on a specific topic, along with its replies, is called a thread.
How can I join in? Anyone can read these forums, but in order to post your own messages, or respond to the posts of others, you will need to register. Registration requires a valid e-mail address, although it need not be a Rogers e-mail address. The e-mail address used to register will not be revealed to other members of the forum (unless you choose to reveal it yourself, which we don't recommend; see Forum Safety, below.)
Forum Safety
Never give out your personal information. Rogers will never ask you for any of your personal information on these forums, and you should report any community forum member who asks for your personal information to our abuse team.
If you need to contact a Rogers support representative directly, click here to begin a Live Chat session with a Technical Support representative.
Don't disclose your contact information. Don't reveal your e-mail address or any other contact information. At the very least, keeping your e-mail address to yourself will keep you off of SPAM lists.
Don't assume anyone is who they say they are. Anonymity works both ways. It protects you, but it also means you have no idea whether or not other forum members are actually who they say they are.
Forum Etiquette
Do a quick search before you ask a question. Forums are all about asking questions and getting answers. Don't be shy about asking questions, but before you ask, use the "Search" function to see if your question has already been asked and answered in another forum thread.
Be courteous and positive. Please remember to be polite. All forum members are volunteers, and are helping out by sharing their time and knowledge. Being courteous and constructive will result in better questions and responses and will contribute to a positive spirit.
These forums are primarily for customers to help other customers. Although there are a number of official Rogers Moderators viewing the forums (Rogers moderators are identified with the Rogers "ring" symbol in their avatar and the word "Moderator" in their title), they are not obliged to directly respond to your question. However, moderators may lend a helping hand if incorrect information is provided. Moderators will also move posts to a better thread to keep things on topic or delete any posts that are considered offensive.
Stay on topic. Please try to stick to topics relevant to the support-oriented nature of this forum.
Don't be a thread hijacker. Please try to stick to the original topic stated by the community member who started the thread. If your post isn't relevant to the discussion, please start another thread in the most appropriate forum area.
Don't be a forum flamer. Flamers post deliberately insulting, hostile or derogatory messages which usually contain profanity. These negative posts don't help anyone and are absolutely not allowed. Flaming will result in an immediate ban of the community member's posting privileges.
Don't be a forum troll. Trolls post messages purposely intended to bait other community members. The messages may not be offensive, but they are usually off topic and are intended to "push the buttons" of another poster. Trolls thrive off of the reactions and negative attention they receive - as a result, if someone is obviously "trolling" do not respond to them and instead report them to the abuse team.
Don't be a forum spammer. Forum spammers repeatedly post the same or similar messages. Please post your messages once in the appropriate forum category. If you post the same message multiple times, they will be locked or deleted and may result in the loss of your posting privileges.
Only post appropriate content.
Do not post advertisements. This includes any information used for trading, selling or advertising any non-Rogers products.
Do not post messages containing insults or profanity - Our forums have some automatic profanity blocking filters. Do not try to purposely bypass these filters.
Don't post racial, religious or sexually offensive messages.
Any violation of these guidelines will result in a loss of forum privileges.
