If you have a windows machine, go to start -> run -> msconfig and untick the the box yop.
Should solve your problem, don't know why you would want to take it off though.

I am using Windows ME. The Rogers website says that it will no longer support new installations of Norton Antivirus on Windows ME. I am already using Norton Antivirus but having lots of problems with conflicts between other programs, namely email and Adobe pdf. Also it causes booting problems and destroys the register keys. I have to try to boot in safe mode, then run scanreg to recover the register keys.
1. I want to uninstall Norton Antivirus and then re-install it. Is this okay, recognizing that I will look like a new installation for Windows ME?
2. Where do I find the install download on the Rogers site? Thanks.

I had Windows ME and found out that Norton does not support Windows ME anymore. I had to upgrade system to XP for that. I guess you will need to do the same. If you remove the Norton from rogers yahoo then you can't install that again.

I'm not to sure off the top of my head, however there is an option to disable the splash screen either through the options menu or this may require a reg fix. I'll see what I can dig up.

Disable the Norton AntiVirus Splash Screen (All Windows) - This setting will stop the Norton AntiVirus Scanner startup logo from being shown.
1. Open your registry and find the key below.
2. Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, named "DisableSplashScreen" and set it to equal "1" to disable the splash screen.
3. The next time Norton AV is run the splash screen should not be display.
Registry Settings
1. System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus\Clinic]
2. Value Name: DisableSplashScreen
3. Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
4. Value Data: (0 = enable splash, 1 = disabled splash)

Warning re: Rogers Protection. I had installed all the Rogers protection available from them, i.e., Norton - Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, etc. Yesterday I was infected with Spyware, WinIFix. This also enabled 3 Trojans and 443 malwares and other miscellaneous scripts to invade. A bright blue screen automatically appeared on my desktop along with a bright yellow sign that said" your computer is infected with spyware. Download or install anti spyware now. Then hundreds of cockroach type bugs crawled over the desk top and proceeded to devour it. Each time I connected to the internet, I received more as this had apparently opened the door. I ran a full scan three times that told me I was not infected. However, as it turns out, I was seriously in trouble. I called Rogers tech support - no help. They turned me over to their new coaches. No help. Final called a computer repair techie to come in who actually knew what I was referring to. Three hours and $208.00 later, everything is fine. If you think Rogers is protecting you...and you are serious about protecting your computer - it is definitely Not. I have removed all Rogers protection and have gone with AVG. Caution to everyone.

Call me when you end up with viruses out the wazoo that you weren't even aware you had... then tell me just how well AVG protected your system...
The software is only as good as the virus definition lists are, and if they aren't kept up-to-date, the program does nothing.... this is the same with ANY security software...
Secondly, the little pop-up message you got, if you clicked on it, blame nobody but yourself, cause that's what it's MEANT to do...
Education about this type of thing is a lot better than simply saying "I blame this program for it"... I say this because of all the people that DO use the Rogers software (Correctly, might I add), and don't encounter these problems...
That being said, not all A/V software is 100% effective. They can only stop what they know is bad, and some newer viruses coming out by the minute are not always known viruses, therefore the software doesn't know any better.

I downloaded and installed the Rogers Yahoo online protection suite but when I try to run it I get the error "Antispyware could not start". When I run the test, it says "Configuration tests failed"

Rogers On Line Protection doesn't work. I tried installing on a XP laptop connected by a wireless router to HiSpeed. I get a "Waiting for Internet Connection" msg. The computer is on line, with email, browser and messenger programs all on line. WHY cant Rogers Yahoo! On Line Protection see the connection?

Is the new protection suite any good?Is it heavy on rescources?

Suggest you read the posts in another thread before installing - http://forums.rogershelp.com/pun/viewtopic.php?id=722 (especially the one by Nylink), The bottom line as far as I am concerned is that by installing ROLP you give permission for access to your computer, your hard drive, your email address and a host of other things. They can use this info for their own purposes, for sales and marketing (i.e. spam) and to provide the info to your ISP (i.e. Rogers). The majority of people click agree on the user agreement without reading, but obviously nylink above read the agreement. I cannot understand anyone installing the software if they read the agreement.

After reading all the comments, about all the problems peeps are having with the new ROP, I've decided NOT to install it on my PC!!! I'll even call one of their techies after midnight one night soon, and get help to also COMPLETELY remove any & all Norton stuff that might be left!
Then I'll get myself a free copy of AVAST (home ed.), and hopefully remain reasonably safe ........ ?
I been running AVAST on my Laptop for some time now, and am pleased with it's performance, so far anyway.
Thx Hooter!
